Congress is close to delivering an energy bill that COULD cut oil imports by 15 percent and reduce tailpipe emissions by 1 billion tons according to the Consumer Federation of America by raising vehicle mileage (CAFE) standards for the first time in twenty years...
The Senate has passed the bill, but House lawmakers have punted on the issue and has not yet voted. Click here to easily email YOUR Representative here.
And let President Bush, who has said he will veto the bill, know you support raising CAFE standards.
Let them know you want CAFE mileage standards raised to Senate standards because:
• It will cut US oil impors by 15 percent
• Reduce tailpipe emissions by 1 billion tons
• Help make our auto industry more competitive by producing cars the rest of the world wants to buy
