Australia green lights...

Australia is taking a refreshingly practical step towards actual emissions reduction by planning to ban sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2010. That’s a g’day, mate! They are walking the walk instead of talking the talk.
Governments have been all too willing to pass toothless but nice-sounding greenhouse gas reduction legislation (usually Kyoto Protocol) but few have the courage to back that up with policies that will make it happen.
As a result, cities and states all over the US and Europe are finding themselves in a jam because their policies did not match their promise and emissions kept on growing.
Real policies like those of California and Australia must be enacted if cities, counties, states and countries are to achieve real greenhouse gas reductions. As Australia points out, demand reduction policies do not cost the consumer - in most cases they save.
We challenge Australia to keep setting an example by tightening building insulation regulations, car mile per gallon regulation (or gas tax), cloning California's "cool roof law" and other cost-less policies.
