Companies like Recycled Energy Development are leading a “recycled energy” revolution. Recycled energy means turning waste heat from factories like steel mills and oil refineries into electricity. Countries like Denmark get over 50% of their electric power this way, but we get only 8% of our electricity this way...
The US could get 20% of its electricity from recycled or “gray power” (Japan and European countries get 35% of their power this way), but we get only 8% of our power this way because in most states it’s illegal for onsite electricity generators to connect to the grid due to old laws designed to protect monopoly electricity utilities.

We think this law needs to change. The Lieberman-Warner climate bill sort of helps, however its misguided micro-management bureaucracy means it is unlikely to solve the problem.
